Following is the list of tools you need before starting application development:
1.Java JDK
2.Android SDK
3.Android studio OR you can use Eclipse
4.ADT (Android Development Tools) Eclipse Plugins
Last two are optional but if you are working on Windows machine then these components make your life easy while doing Java based application development.
